Kendra + Eli | A Hurricane Wedding at East Zion Resort

Some wedding days go exactly according to plan.

Kendra and Eli’s was not one of them.

They were married at East Zion Resort on October 10, 2026, right in the middle of Hurricane Rachel, and from the very beginning, the day seemed determined to test everyone involved.

The power went out that morning, which is not exactly what you want to wake up to on your wedding day. But before panic could really set in, Sarah of Wild Cactus Weddings stepped in and did something incredible. She drove more than an hour to pick up generators so Kendra, Eli, and their wedding party could still get ready.

That is the kind of vendor you want in your corner.

And somehow, that was only the beginning.

Before the ceremony, we were finishing up family portraits when a massive microburst suddenly came through. Within moments, the outdoor reception space was completely torn apart.

Tables blew over.

Plates went flying.

Glass shattered.

Tents moved.

Tablecloths were soaked.

It was absolute chaos.

But what happened next was one of the most incredible things we have ever witnessed on a wedding day.

Kendra and Eli’s friends and family immediately jumped into action. There was no standing around wondering what to do. Everyone started moving tables, gathering what could be saved, finding new linens, drying the ones that were soaked, and rebuilding the reception space under the tent.

What had looked completely destroyed only moments earlier slowly started coming back together.

That kind of love says so much about the people surrounding a couple.

And somehow, after all of that, it was finally time to get married.

Kendra and Eli’s ceremony took place in front of the beautiful sandstone walls at East Zion Resort, and it was filled with both laughter and tears.

Although one particular guest nearly stole the entire show.

One of their pups apparently decided the ceremony needed a little more adventure and took off hiking up the massive cliff behind Eli. Before anyone knew it, he was scaling the vertical sandstone wall like a tiny mountain goat while everyone watched in disbelief.

There was really nothing left to do but laugh.

And laugh they did.

It was one of those completely unscripted wedding moments that nobody could have planned—and nobody there will ever forget.

Through the power outage, the wind, the rain, the flying tables, the shattered glass, and one very adventurous dog, Kendra and Eli never lost sight of why everyone was there.

They were getting married.

And they were surrounded by people who loved them enough to literally rebuild their wedding around them.

The storm may have changed the plans, but it never changed the celebration.

Everyone danced, laughed, celebrated, and made the absolute most of the night.

Kendra and Eli’s East Zion Resort wedding was wild, emotional, hilarious, beautiful, and completely unforgettable.

And honestly?

We wouldn’t change a thing.

The next day, the adventure somehow continued.

We headed into Zion National Park for portraits, and the weather was still putting on a show. A massive storm had settled into the canyon, with flash flooding, incredibly low clouds, and waterfalls pouring down the cliffs everywhere we looked.

It was dramatic, moody, and completely unreal.

Instead of blue skies and sunshine, Kendra and Eli got something far more memorable—the kind of Zion scenery you almost never get to see. The clouds wrapped around the sandstone walls, waterfalls appeared all over the canyon, and the entire landscape felt wild and cinematic.

After everything the day before had already thrown at them, it felt strangely perfect.

Their wedding weekend was never going to be calm or predictable.

It was going to be an adventure.

And from a hurricane wedding at East Zion Resort to stormy portraits surrounded by waterfalls in Zion National Park, Kendra and Eli got one they will never forget.
